LED LIGHT BULBS - 10 Things you Probably Didn’t Know About LEDs

We’ve heard the benefits of LEDs, power conserving, long lifespan and a high performance. There are factors that are less discussed about LEDs, let’s look over these factors before making a decision on which light bulb to purchase:

  1. LEDs CREATES DIRECT EMISSIONS

In more simple terms, LEDs create direct and accurate lighting for each area. Only emitting 180 degrees of heat, they can direct and redirect light just as easy as a light bulb that emits up to 360 degrees. For example, when you have a regular standard bulb in the ceiling, you may realize that it casts light upon the ceiling itself. The problem here is that we don’t want just the ceiling to be illuminated, we want the whole room. LEDs light up brighter over a large area.

  1. LEDs HAVE A LARGE RANGE DIFFERENT DESIGNS

When mentioning the LED light bulb, some people think of the modern twisted bulb design. But LEDs have different sizes and shapes to fit in virtually any type of lighting fixture and decorational value.

  1. LEDs ARE SOLID STATE LIGHTS (SSL)

Other bulbs have a glass surrounding the equipment inside. Like for instance, Incandescent light bulbs have a thin wire inside and glass surrounding it. LEDs don’t use unnecessary glass material and instead just make the equipment safe to handle.

  1. LEDs CAN DIM ACCORDINGLY

LEDs have the option to dim from their outputted power, (0 to 100). This doesn’t apply to other methods of lighting. Another good factor of this is that LEDs power usage reduces with the dimming capability in order to not use unnecessary power but to preserve it for a longer lifespan.

  1. LEDs ARE INSTANTLY TURNED ON WITH NO HASSLE

LEDs, unlike other options, require no heat-up period, they turn instantly on and possess no damage from past usage.

  1. LEDs DO NOT PRODUCE UV EMISSIONS

Most of the heat transferred into the LED bulb is used to produce light, they use hardly any energy to go to waste. What does this mean? LEDs are safe to use in UV reliable items. For instance, some types of art are broken down over time and degraded because of not using UV safe operational lights.

  1. LEDs OPERATE IN ALL CLIMATES

Whether you live in a hot or cold environment, LEDs operate safely in all.

  1. LEDs FUNCTION ON A LOW POWER OPERATION

LEDs overall operate on low voltages. This makes them functional for outdoor appliances as usual. Especially for oceanfront homes that have the usual issue of flooding and other weather permitting damages.

  1. LEDs HAVE CORRELATED COLOR TEMPERATURE (CCT)

LEDs are available in a large range of color temperature correlated options. They can be available with a warm tint selection, this usually appears to be yellowish or orangish. The other option is a cold tone, this can appear to be icy looking and blueish.

  1. LEDs ARE THE SAFEST OPTION

LEDs are the safest option amongst all other light bulbs. Heat is one of the biggest concerns to electrical engineers when it comes to safety. LEDs do not emit as much heat as other traditional bulbs. They consume less power and emits it into light rather than heat. This makes this a better option over incandescent lights that are transferring 90% of its power into heat and 10% of heat into light.

CONCLUSION

We’ve all heard the benefits of LEDs, but this was the least commonly spoken facts about LED lights. Though a little bit more of an investment, LEDs are the best lighting option for you and your home!
