Guide to Singapore Renovation Costs

Homeowners that are undergoing renovations for their homes want to know how much various updates will cost in order to be able to plan accordingly. Even if you plan to sell your flat, renovations are often recommended in order to increase the sale price and profits. Here is a guide to the costs of various renovation types so that you can have an idea of what you can expect to pay.

Redefining Walls

Changes to the walls in your home might be what you are considering in order to create a larger room space or more closet space. Removing a wall for an HDB flat or apartment will cost between $400 and $900 depending on the length, thickness and section that needs to be removed. Remember that you will need to get A Renovation Permit from the HDB.

Installing New Floors

You may not be satisfied with the existing floors that came with your home. There are many options for tiles and the costs can vary depending on which materials you select. The price range for new tiles can be anywhere between $6,000 to $9,000 depending on the amount of flooring that is required to complete the job and the amount of labour that will be required in order to lay the tiles and adjust the floor's foundation underneath. Kitchen Renovations

Kitchen renovations that do not include updating appliances can cost more than $8,000 for a kitchen that is medium-sized. Using more expensive materials for countertops and cabinets can raise the price even higher.

Renovations Per SQF

If you are not sure exactly how extensive the renovations will be yet, a good idea is to set aside roughly $100 per sqf. The costs will depend heavily on the materials that you choose for the renovation as well as your design requirements. Make sure that you also make allowances for items such as furniture, window treatments, appliances and upholstery as these are not included in the budget estimates given above. By making sure that everything has been planned carefully, you can avoid many of the pitfalls that come along with home renovations.
