Moving into a new home can be a hectic experience. There’s usually a mess in both of your places and something always gets forgotten. There’s no reason for the experience to be that stressful - much of it can be avoided if you plan things out.
It’s best to make a list of all the items that need to be moved and all the services that you want to keep after changing your address. This will give you an outline of how to move your life from one place to the other without disturbing it too much.

Packing smartly
Packing in itself doesn’t seem like something you can do smartly or wrongly for that matter, but in fact, it can make your move much easier and more organized. Start by deciding what not to pack and use the move to discard all the things you don’t really need.
The boxes should be organized based on how much you need the items in them instead of their size. That way you can immediately unpack the things that you need the most and start living in your new property while handling the rest when you can get to it.

Banks and the post office
There is a lot of bureaucracy that’s tied to your home address. You usually don’t realize how important it is until there’s some sort of disturbance. Try to make a list of all the services you’re using that use your address even if you don’t receive mail from them that often.
The first service to notify is probably the post office, because you want your mail redirected to your new address, at least until you get things in order. Do the same with your bank even if you pay all your dues on time – you don’t want to miss a bank notice.

Cleaning up
Moving can cause a big mess in both properties and there are a lot of more important things to worry about than cleaning. This is especially the case if you’re moving to a commercial center or moving out of one. Cleaning could cause too much of a commotion in that part of the city and disturb your neighbors. Before you can move to your new home, you need to make it livable enough. It will take a while until it’s comfortable like your previous place was, but start with necessities.
Make sure your new home has the electricity and heating suitable for your needs and that you don’t need to pay these bills on both addresses (at least not for too long). Also, make sure you have an internet connection set up on the day of the move or before so you can move in comfortably.

It may seem a bit overwhelming to deal with a party after a move, but you want to make yourself a part of the new community right away. Take the time to meet your neighbors and invite them to a small get-together as soon as you get the time to do so.
You should also take the time to learn about the community and its culture while you’re looking for a new place. That way you can organize a routine as soon as you move.
Moving can be made much easier if you organize everything beforehand. There’s always going to be some chaos involved, but it doesn’t have to be overwhelming.
